Rises 62 places in 2021 ENR Rankings

UrbaCon Trading & Contracting (“UCC”), part of Qatar-based international construction services company UCC Holding, is pleased to announce it has been ranked as the 132nd Top International Contractor in 2021.

The new rankings published by Engineering News-Record (ENR), a leading global provider of news, data, and analysis for the construction industry, reveals that UCC has risen 62 places this year, up from 194. ENR’s Top 250 Global Contractors annual rankings recognises the world’s largest construction firms and is based on total construction revenue.

UCC’s current construction portfolio includes many landmark projects. In addition to delivering some of Qatar’s most popular and high-profile projects in recent years across infrastructure and heavy construction, buildings, and marine projects, UCC has also received Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status from The General Authority of Customs in Qatar, granting UCC special status with regards to customs benefits and facilities. Recent cutting-edge projects have included the Barwa Project, Al Wakrah, Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi, Maldives and Banana island.

UCC was recognized as the number one contractor in Qatar in the most recent Middle East Business Intelligence (MEED) Quarterly Review. UCC was considered the leading contractor based on the value of the work being completed. Throughout the region, UCC ranks third for the value of work under execution. This achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of all UCC employees.

Alongside its traditional domestic construction projects, UCC has diversified its portfolio by pursuing opportunities in the Energy sector, Public Private Partnership (PPP) Projects and has focused on expanding its international operations. Its successful work across the Maldives, France, Morocco, and Oman has led UCC to expand operations across the Gulf region and Africa.

The ENR data further bolsters UCC’s pre-eminent position within the Qatari and wider Middle Eastern construction markets, and its increasing stature as a major player in the global construction industry.

Moutaz Al-Khayyat, Chairman of UCC Holding, said: “I would like to commend the unwavering commitment of our people, without whom this recognition would not be possible. We are delighted that UCC continues to be recognised as one of the top global contractors, ascending the ENR rankings and further cementing our international reputation. Our business goes from strength to strength, with several high-profile projects nearing completion, and this ranking closely follows UCC being ranked as the number one contractor in Qatar in the latest MEED rankings.

“These accolades serve as a testament to the culture of excellence across our business and we look forward to delivering further growth, with several exciting projects soon to break ground both domestically and abroad. We have already started bidding and registering international branches in several new markets and we look forward to further expansion.”
