In December, our senior leadership team were delighted to visit Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, USA – our affiliate healthcare provider for The View Hospital, a brand-new general hospital set to open in Qatar later this year.

Cedars-Sinai is one of the leading healthcare groups in California with a long and successful history dating back to 1902. Operating worldwide in over 40 countries, the Cedars-Sinai group provides a wide range of healthcare services to over 1 million patients every year.

As part of the visit, our delegation, led by Ramez Al-Khayyat, met with Cedars-Sinai’s leadership team to discuss the ongoing workstreams Elegancia are undertaking at The View Hospital, as we gear up for the final stages of development this year. We were pleased to update our counterparts on the progress we were making during this vital construction and development stage. As well as providing an update, the Elegancia team were given a full tour of Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre’s facilities.

As well as Mr. Al-Khayyat, our Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Henrik Halager Christiansen, was in attendance, along with Dr. George Feghali (Medical Advisor, Elegancia), Mr. Bassam Sayad (Cluster Chief Executive Officer, Elegancia), Dr. Ismaeel Makdisi (Chief Legal Officer, PIH), and Mr. Mazen Alsbeti (Chief Business Development Officer, PIH).

The delegation met with Mr. Richard Jacobs (Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer,

Cedars-Sinai), Dr. Heitham Hassoun (Vice President and Medical Director International, Cedars-Sinai), and Mr. Steve Thompson (Senior Global Consultant International, Cedars-Sinai).

The View Hospital, a general hospital in Qatar’s capital city Doha, is the first flagship project delivered by Elegancia Healthcare in association with Cedars-Sinai. With the deal signed in February last year, the hospital will span over 95,000 square meters on the coast of Doha and have the capacity to host 23,000 inpatients and over 300,000 outpatients per year.

The purpose behind the project is to deliver a brand-new, cutting-edge health facility in Qatar and the wider region that supports the country on its long-term global ambitions. The final development will provide a full range of healthcare services and will raise the bar of standards for quality and innovation in patient care, while creating a unique, patient-centered experience.

The partnership between the two healthcare groups will significantly strengthen the offering of the new flagship hospital, combining the strengths, skills and expertise of both businesses. As part of the project, Elegancia Healthcare will lead on the development, management, and operations of the hospital, while Cedars-Sinai will provide advisory, training and consulting services for the development, operation, and management. Once opened, the hospital will host visits from many of the doctors currently practising at Cedars-Sinai, bringing world-class healthcare services to Qatar.
