Hotels in the United Arab Emirates have launched unprecedented offers to attract tourists and face the decline in occupancy during the month of Ramadan and the hot summer season.

The hotels have announced that they are offering free nights for guests during the month of fasting, as well, other major hotels presented discounts up to 50%, while other hotels offered free breakfasts (Iftars), while others offered traditional and Ramadan meals to illustrate Ramadan themes for tourists arriving from Europe and Asia.

The tourism expert Mr. Moutaz Al Khayyat said that hotels in the Gulf countries are facing a decline in occupancy rates in the beginning of the summer season and the month of Ramadan, that is why, most hotels have presented unprecedented offers to attract tourists and at the same time attract citizens and residents to stay during the month of fasting.

“Some offers and discounts contribute to lift the occupancy rate to 100%, especially for the hotels that offer discounts to fasting people at Iftar and Suhoor,” and in addition he stated that the offers presented in the most recent days have contributed to a 50 percent increase in bookings.

Mr. Moutaz Al Khayyat said that Gulf countries are witnessing a remarkable development in the shopping, leisure and tourism industry, and hotels are innovating unconventional offers to help keep the tourism afloat throughout the year.

The management of Coral Beach Hotel in Sharjah presented “free accommodation”, which allows free stay and paying in return $ 100 in restaurants. Mr. Haitham ABDUL AZIZ, the hotel manager, said that the offer helped raise the booking rate.

Freddy FARID, manager of the Gloria Dubai Hotel, said that the hotel was prepared for Ramadan month with discounts on accommodation and restaurant services, stating that the hotel has introduced decors inspired by the Arabian and Gulf heritage to illustrate Ramadan themes for tourists arriving from Asia and Europe.

He also said that the hotel has hired specialized women in making Arab Manakeesh as well as traditional and Ramadan recipes to familiarize the tourists with the way these foods are made.

Patrick ANTAKI, Manager of Le Meridian Al Aqah Hotel in Fujairah, said that the hotel is being decorated with Ramadan-inspired theme, adding that many tourists from Europe are happy with the decorations that familiarize them with the holy month.

He also pointed out that discounts made by hotels on room rates during the month of Ramadan, contribute to boost domestic tourism and highly raise the revenue of hotel restaurants.
